St Helen’s Church was filled with people and happy chatter at the annual fun night, and despite a bitterly cold evening and a warm welcome was extended to all.

The new kitchen area was used to its full potential and the jolly atmosphere during the evening was a just reward to all who had contributed to the success of the recent transformation of the building.

Church services continue to be held as part of the regular rota for the Parish of the Asterby group but at other times it is enjoyed as a venue for social activities and fundraising events.

There were competitions and games to keep everyone occupied and no one managed to identify all the personalities who had pictures on display,

There were prizes on offer for the owners of lucky tickets in the raffles and bargains on the indoor car boot sale.

Winners of games included David Montgomery who guessed the number of sweets in the jar; Henry Needham who was the highest scorer for kids skittles with the adult Beverly Bird; Sam Bailey child and Steve Hull adult darts; Poppy Farrow child and Richard Burton adult found the buried treasure.

Lauren Bratley won the bagatelle and Richard Burton won the rabbit.
