ORGANISERS of Mablethorpe’s East Midlands in Bloom bid now wait with baited breath for the results after the judges came to the resort on Thursday, July 7 to scrutinise this year’s efforts.
Town Manager Karen Froggatt led the judges on a three hour tour around the resort to showcase the hard work of the team. Fortunately the rain held until the end of the trip.
Now the organisers must wait until September 14 when they will find out the results of the awards, and whether that all important gold medal is coming to Mablethorpe.
The tour included a number of new entries, including Tennyson High School and the allotments, while the Linkage Green gardens were more impressive than ever.
Karen Froggatt said: “The day was a great success and everything went very much according to plan. The judges appeared very impressed with what they saw.
“Last year Mablethorpe achieved Silver Award Status and whilst the gold may still be just out of reach this year, we do hope to raise the bar again and achieve Silver Gilt status. If we can do that, Gold can definitely be in reach for us in 2012.”
In Bloom Chairman Graham Parkhurst added: “All in all I think the judges had a very enjoyable time and appeared impressed with some of the new entries into this year’s In Bloom.”
The day ended at the Guides HQ with a buffet and the judges were able to meet the committee members.
