AROUND 35 walkers put their best feet forward for a charity trek from Mablethorpe to Alford on Saturday, raising over £700 for Cancer Research.

Organiser and Slimming World co-ordinator Lisa Riches came up with the idea for the walk following the news that the husband of fellow slimmer Kerry had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Kerry is trying to raise £2,000 for the charity and lose four stone at the same time.

The walkers were met by a rainy start to the day as they left Mablethorpe Community Centre on Saturday morning, but marched on regardless as they raised the huge total for the charity.

Lisa said: “We had some drop out due to the weather but we did have some members of the public join us which was fabulous. In total we had around 35 walkers raised over £700 which could be more once all sponsor money is handed in.

“I just think it’s great how my Slimming World members have pulled together to help me on this walk.”
