CRIME fighting charity Crimestoppers has launched a video highlighting its determination to continue its work in tackling metal thieves in the East Midlands.
The short film features interviews with people affected by metal theft, as well as representatives of Crimestoppers, who highlight the cost and inconvenience this crime creates for local people.
The aim of the video, which can be viewed on Crimestoppers’ YouTube channel, is to encourage the public to play their part in giving information about this crime, which costs the UK economy around £770 million per year. With the figure continuing to grow.
Crimestoppers launched its fight against metal theft in the region in March, with figures showing that the most common type of metal theft in the area is from residential properties.
