Who will have longest runner bean at East Barkwith show?

SCHEDULES are now available at East Barkwith sub post office for the Barkwith and district annual evening show which is open to everyone living within a seven mile radius of the village.

It is to be held on Friday August 31 and there are 26 classes for vegetables, flowers and floral art with the exhibitors in this section invited to interpret The Gardeners Ruby Anniversary together with Food for Thought plus a jam jar of garden flowers and foliage.

There are trophies to be won by the exhibitors gaining the most points in the fruit and vegetable section, the flower section and the floral art section, by the exhibitor of the best dahlia in the show and the best fuchsia in the show with special prizes too for the heaviest marrow and the longest runner bean. All are welcome to take along entries between 7pm and 7.45pm or go along and to view the exhibits once judging is completed. The Barkwith and district Gardeners was formed in 1972 and after 40 successful years of regular meetings and shows celebrates its Ruby Anniversary in November.

It attracts members from other surrounding villages too who appreciate the opportunity to hear recognised experts speaking on a wide variety of gardening topics and who enjoy the social side with fellow members.
