Jane Allen-Chilman, Manager of the garden centre in Legbourne Road, said: “We are hosting the event to help raise awareness of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) national Feed the Birds Day on Saturday October 29.

“Visitors will receive free tips and advice about feeding and caring for their garden birds.”

During the garden centre’s Wild Bird Care Fortnight, there will be free fun activities for children including a competition for youngsters to draw a picture of a wild bird. The winners of each age category will receive a certificate, a Gardman large flip top seed feeder, an eight kilogram box of seed mix and a Chapelwood pink bird seed feeder.
