Staff at Woodthorpe Garden Centre were on hand to present more than £1,000 to help the work of a cancer charity.

General manager Philip May handed over £1,044 to Lillian Eaton, co-ordinator of Lilli Aid, a local society that is dedicated to raising funds for Cancer Research UK.

The money was collected from the garden centre’s Christmas wishing well, as well as a collection bucket and donation tins at the tills.

In accepting the money, Mrs Eaton said would like to express her heartfelt thanks to the management and staff of Woodthorpe Garden Centre for all their kindness.

Mrs Eaton, who is in remission for colon cancer, started Lilli Aid as a thank you for the care and treatment she received during her illness.
