Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea have been recognised for securing ‘some of the best beaches in the world’ after passing challenging criteria.
The prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the water quality has been maintained by both resorts after the towns achieved the highest standard possible after a gruelling testing process.
The award also acknowledges the beaches’ excellent facilities, the safety measures in place and environmental education and management.
Coun Adam Grist, portfolio holder for leisure and tourism said: “Retaining the blue flag confirms that we have really great stretches of award-winning beaches.
“Knowing that we have some of the best beaches in the world gives potential visitors the confidence that when they come to East Lindsey they will be greeted by clean, well maintained beaches with good facilities.”
Both beaches in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea join 3,450 blue flag holders in 41 countries.
The two towns have also retained their Seaside Awards which ensure beach visitors are consistently experiencing quality visits to the coast.
The awards are a symbol of the great achievements of beach managers throughout the country and allows them to showcase their beaches amongst the best in England.
Coun Grist added: “As a council we put resources into making sure our resorts are clean and tidy with quality water.
“A clean beach is integral to our summer-time economy, drawing huge numbers of visitors to the coast every year and supporting our local businesses and helping to develop job opportunities for local people.”
The two awards are administered in England by keep Britain Tidy.
