Young farmers help clear Utterby churchyard

FOR the new year members from Alford and Louth Young Farmers Clubs together with strimmers, saws and rakes descended on the churchyard at St Andrews Church, Utterby.

They had very generously volunteered to clear away all the briars and rotting vegetation which had accumulated over many years.

Villagers were amazed at the speed with which they carried out these tasks and in no time at all were able to walk arount the full perimeter of the churchyard.

Village ladies Brenda Woodliffe and Wendy Berry supplied a welcome lunch of bacon butties.

Well done to all from the people of Utterby.

Those taking part included William Wrisdale (chairman Alford YF) Jack Norton (Chairman Louth YF), Sophie Inchley, Gilly Brown, Freddie Norton, George Hewson, Jasmine Bell, Matt Denby, John Bell, Andrew Silvester, Mark Silvester, David Sutcliffe and Terry Buckley.
