THE latest resident of Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary is in need of a name, and Leader readers are being asked to come up with their suggestions.

The Seal Sanctuary has recently taken in three meerkats; two males from West Midlands Safari Park, Billy and Elliott, and an as yet unnamed two-year-old female from Chester Zoo.

Meerkats have taken iconic status in recent times, mainly thanks to a certain insurance provider’s television advert.

The Seal Sanctuary’s Dennis Drew said: “The meerkats have been very popular so far, we really hope people come and see them and have a go at coming up with a name.”

You never know, maybe you’ll get to name the Sanctuary’s latest attraction.

The ‘mini zoo’ boasts other residents including seals, reptiles, foxes, badgers, emus, herons, birds of prey and a European Lynx.

Readers can go along to the Seal Sanctuary which is now open daily and grab an entry form, or email their suggestions along with their name and contact details to thesealsanctuary@hotmail.co.uk before Tuesday, April 17.

The victorious entrant will receive a special meerkat teddy, a winners’ certificate and free entry for two to the Seal Sanctuary.

The winning entry will be revealed in the Leader in the coming weeks.
