Bowling memories of such a kind man

EDITOR – I was saddened to learn of the death of Graham Kirkup in your local newspaper.

For a number of years I was a member of the Sutton on Sea Bowling Club, of which Graham was a principle player and always played a leading part in most of the games.

My memories of his dedication to the club were especially when playing the league matches during the evenings at the distant fixtures such as North Somercotes, Willoughby, and other locations.

I was always invited to join him in his car to journey to the destinations, for which I was very thankful, and it gave me an opportunity to get to know him and to participate in and enjoy the competitive game.

I was also thankful to be selected to play with him when the teams were being arranged to play in the home matches.

I always thought a lot of Graham. I left the club before he did, and when passing his home in Victoria Road I would wonder was he was doing.

Your outline of his achievements and his dedication to all his local duties and services have been well set down, and I am sure he fulfilled them all to the satisfaction of everyone concerned.

He will be missed by his whole family and my condolences go with them at this time, after their loss of a very kind and loving man.
