EDITOR – RE Crowtree Lane Hospital.
In June 1939 I went into the children’s ward to have my tonsils out. I was two years and nine months old.
The operation was carried out by Dr Morton, with Dr Wilmot (with his huge white beard), giving the dreadful chloroform.
Three days later my father and mother picked me up in a borrowed car.
By the way, the Sister tutor, Miss Jacklin, mentioned in other letters was my aunt, Ruth Jacklin, who had previously nursed all through the London blitz.
