EDITOR – I was reading the article on the bigger supermarkets (Leader, September 21) and whether it is a good thing for Louth town.
I believe bigger supermarkets are essential for a town like Louth. I use the local shops and love going to the local cheese shops, veg shop and market, but not all of my groceries are able to be sourced from these shops, plus the fact that they can also be more expensive.
When I need to do my big shop I have to travel to Grimsby, which is taking the trade out of Louth.
If there was a bigger supermarket in Louth I would use that, but keep on using the local shops also.
I think it is necessary.
