Letter: Congratulations on award of BEM

EDITOR - I would like to pass on my sincere congratulations to Mary Blackburn on the award of the BEM.

My father and I farmed not far from Mary’s parents farm at Trusthorpe.

And my wife Kathleen (now deceased), and I visited Mary when she lived in Alford on one of our visits to England quite a few years ago. The sea floods of 1953, put paid to my farming career. A friend that Mary may remember, Jean Harrison, (was Jean Jenkins), sent me a newspaper clipping. I am in my 81st year, but keep in touch with the world by the internet. I have written five books, and I put them on Amazon last year as ‘Ebooks’, and if anyone is interested a search on ‘Mike Hicks’ is the quickest way to find them. Again I send my best wishes to Mary and congratulations.
