Letter: Retirement of a legend

EDITOR - Sutton on Sea First Responder Group would like to thank Keith Auvache and wish him a happy retirement.

Keith who has given many years service to the Ambulance service, a lifetime in fact, and recently ran the Sutton on Sea first responder group for many years both as coordinator and trainer as well as responding has hung up his Hi Vis Jacket for the last time.

Steve Palmer the new group coordinator and Beth Cochran the new group trainer especially wish to pass on their thanks for the flying start Keith has given them.

Steve also added that if anyone in the Sutton on Sea area who would like to be a responder please contact him on 01507 440194.

The Sutton on Sea First Responders are part of the charity LIVES and respond to appropriate 999 medical calls as part of EMAS.

LIVES who rely totally on donations from the public, aim to reduce response times, because every minute counts in certain circumstances such as cardiac arrest.

Since qualifying a year ago Steve has responded to about 150 calls but he says that is nothing to the service that Keith has given to the community over the years.

“It just cannot be calculated the hours and good that this man has given plus the support to other responders”, Steve commented.

So happy retirement Keith Auvache, you deserve it.
