Letter: Where have all the birds gone?

Have your say

I live at the East end of Louth. I have three bird feeding tables and my neighbour, two.

Up to 2012 we had a plethora of different bird species visit us every day.

Then in 2013, the number and different species of birds dropped dramatically.

This year, apart from a flock of sparrows, two wood pigeons and the occasional black bird and very occasionally a pair of blue tits there are no other birds.

What has happened? Is this just this area of Louth or are other people experiencing a huge reduction in birds - particularly song birds.

If this huge decrease in birds is widespread, we need a rapid investigation as to the cause, before lose our birds altogether.

If this is just local then who or what is causing this sad decline.
