EDITOR - The photo in last week’s Leader of Mablethorpe Station brought back many memories for me.
In the 1940s and 1950s I travelled to work in Louth, and in 1947 when we had a lot of snow, the train got stuck in Grimoldby everyone from office workers to fireman.
We were stuck there all day and some of the men managed to get to the beach and walk back to Mablethorpe.
The girls stayed put and the RAF at Manby brought us flasks of tea and sandwiches.
About 5pm a snowplough managed to get through to us and an hour later we got back to Mablethorpe. The line was closed for four weeks after.
And one of the Theddlethorpe school children pictured, Margery Larder was recognised by myself, she was my great aunt and there are still a lot more of her relatives living in Mablethorpe.
