Were Helena and Peter the first children to be born at Crowtree?

EDITOR – Regarding the former Crowtree Lane Hospital.

Our aunt Helena with her twin brother Peter were born at Crowtree Lane Hospital on July 25 1927. Our aunt was named Helena Victoria (Brader) after Princess Helena Victoria, who opened the maternity ward.

We believe Helena and Peter (they were two of 10 children, but Peter sadly died three months later and was the only boy born to the Brader family) were possibly the first babies to be born at Crowtree Hospital, but we cannot be sure on this fact.

Helena Spouncer (née Brader) is now 83 years old and lives happily at Haveholmes House Nursing Home, Broughton, near Scunthorpe.
