THERE were no plans to close Market Rasen courthouse - that was the message to members of the town council, this week in 1988.
Mayor Chris Padley was told by the County Solicitor's office that there were 'no current proposals' to close it. As you will know - it closed only a few years later.

Other news this week in 1988:

* A young mother and her two year old son from London, were killed in an horrific accident on the A46 at Swallow.

* The management committee of the Viking Centre at Claxby was concerned it was not being fully used.

* Tealby Tennis Club officially opened its new courts.

* The owner of a financial services company in Market Rasen was given a two year suspended sentence after admitting stealing from clients.
