THE funeral service for Frank Gilliatt, aged 71, took place on July 9 at St Michael's Church, Louth, followed by interment at Louth Cemetery and was conducted by Father Trevor Walker.
Frank (pictured) was a proud Loudesian who, at 16-years-old, left the town to join the RAF Cadets at Cranwell.
While serving with the RAF Frank achieved an Honours Degree at Birmingham University and began to work on Navigation Systems for the then new Vulcan Bomber.
This work took him on flights across the world and he made a significant contribution to the long and successful service of that iconic aircraft.
On leaving the RAF, Frank joined an American owned computer company in the North East of England, working as a buyer. During his time with this company Frank met Sir Alan Sugar who was then in the early days of his own very successful business life.
The next step in Frank's varied career saw him working in the oil Industry where he was employed for several years in the Brent Field designing electrical modules.
After losing his second brother Frank returned to his home in Louth, living at High Home Road before taking on work in Saudi Arabia and Libya.
Later he joined East Lindsay District Council where he worked for 23 years until his retirement in 2008.
Frank was a family man, married to Beryl with six children – Bryan, Rachel, Deborah, Lesley, Simon and Timothy.
He was a man blessed by many friends and a happy family life and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
