The 11-year-old, who was competing for the first time at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, topped the podium in both the discus and the table tennis.

And the Alford Grammar School pupil, a member of the North-East Lincolnshire Disability Forum, is hopeful of repeating his medal haul on the world stage.

"I've really enjoyed competing all week," said Grummitt. "I didn't know how well I would do so it's great to go home with some medals.

"I really love taking part in sport and after watching the Paralympics I was really excited about coming here and taking part in lots of sports.

"I would love to take part in the Games myself, it would be fantastic and if I won like I have done this week I would be delighted.

"I'm hopeful of taking part and if I keep enjoying it and practising all my sports then one day hopefully I'll get there.

Grummitt, who was one of over 300 children from more than 25 schools that competed at the multi-sport event, insists he isn't ready to commit himself to a single sport just yet.

"I've tried so many different events this week. I've tried table tennis, hockey, basketball, archery and lots of others so I'm not ready to focus on just one yet," he added.

"In the future I will probably have to and I like cycling as well so you never know I may even choose that."
