WITH new sponsors Eastern Airways on board and the lure of a brand new car waiting for the first person to hole in one at the eighth hole the 2008 Kenwick Park Pro-Am took off in style.
Barry Hurt the professional from Bulwell Forest in Nottinghamshire teamed up with Mick Graves and Dave Hackett from Kenwick Park joined by Nigel Towse from Louth.
Despite never having played the course before, Barry Hurt shot a great score of 68, which at three under proved to be good enough to win the competition for the professionals.
Barry and his fellow players from Kenwick Park and Louth also took the top team prize with a total of 129 which at -13, proved three shots better than their nearest rivals.
In the professionals competition, Dean Worrall from Normanby Hall came second with 70 from three players tied in third place with 72 who were Neil Vans (Greetham Valley), Adrian Ashworth (Greetham Valley) and Clive Fromant (unattached).
Five players tied for sixth place with 74 and they were Michael Langford (Kenwick Park), Iain Fulton (Belton Park), Stephen Bennett (Waltham Windmill), David McNicholas (Normanby Hall) and Jonathan Drury (Grange Park).
In the team competition, a countback decided second and third spots with Dean Worrall (Normanby Hall) with the Access Golf Team claiming second place with 133 from David McNicholas (Normanby Hall) with the Normanby Hall Team.
David Jagger (Hull) and the Hull Golf Club Team came fourth with 134 on a countback from Neil Evans (Greetham Valley) with the Kenwick Park Team.
Despite everybody giving the tee shot on the eighth hole their best shot, no-one managed to hole in one to win the car.
Sunshine and a course in tip-top condition greeted the 144 players who took part in the Kenwick Park Seniors Open.
Playing a betterball stableford, Dave Scholey (Hull Golf Club) and his partner Chris Davidson (Hessle GC) scored a wonderful 40 points to win. The home team of Colin Birkett and partner Clive James came second with 39.
