THE pre-Christmas snow and ice had a short detrimental effect on Louth Indoor Bowls Club's activities, preventing some members getting into Louth and the club decided to close for two days.
No county matches had been arranged for the two-week festive break, fortunately as it transpires due to the tricky travelling conditions.
At this halfway point of the season the Men's 'A' team are currently next-bottom of the Lincs League division 2, biding their time, whilst the 'B' team stands proudly at the top of division 3 albeit only five points clear of Grantham and have also played two games more.
In the Men's Over 60 section, Louth are sixth out of eight teams, poised to move upwards!
In the Mixed League the normally reliable 'A' team are bottom of division one but waiting to make a surge for the top.
The Mixed 'B' team, newly formed this winter, are still finding their feet and are next-bottom of division two but have played less games than anyone else and will hopefully improve with time and experience.
It is the Ladies who are showing the way at the moment by occupying second spot in the Trudy Bates county league and have also reached the Zone Final of the Yetton Plate where they play Gedling on January 7.
The winners of this match go forward to the last sixteen of the national competition.
All members are reminded that annual subscriptions are due by December 31.
You really don't want a letter from the club manager about late payments, do you?
An early notification now about an Open Session on Sunday January 31 when any interested members of the public may come along to see what bowls is all about.
Rink space will be available between 8am and 1pm. if you wish to have a go.
