LOCAL footballing hero Brian Manson has been nominated for the BBC Sports Unsung Hero 2008 award.
The club chairman of Theddlethorpe FC and junior football development chairman of Louth United has been nominated for his ‘unbelievable commitment’.
The award honours volunteers who have made a difference to their community through sport.
Brian, who lives in South Cockerington, is one of three people shortlisted for the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire award.
A panel of judges will decide the winner this week and the lucky volunteer will get a bursary of up to £2,500 to help them with their work in sport.
If Brian wins he will be invited to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards at the Liverpool Echo Arena on December 14 presented by Gary Lineker, Sue Barker and Jake Humphrey.
There he will battle 14 other regional finalists for the national Unsung Hero award.
Brian was nominated by Ian Hall, vice chairman of Theddlethorpe FC and U9s coach at Louth United, and Taryn Johnstone, club secetary at Theddlethorpe FC.
Ian said: “Brian thoroughly deserves it. It is unbelieveable commitment.”
