AFTER a busy winter preparing the cricket ground at Priory Lane, Grimoldby Cricket Club played their first games of the season last week.
Improvements have been made to the outfield, pavilion, car park and practice areas.

All games will be played this year on a new artificial wicket provided with the financial support of East Lindsey District Council and Lord’s Taverners.

The first game played on the new wicket was an U13 early season friendly against Louth U13s, which Grimoldby won, with captain Jake Sanders top scoring.

The top scorer on Friday night was the U15s captain Stuart Barker in their win over Louth.

On Sunday, Grimoldby 2nds were due to host Moulton Harrox, unfortunately Moulton were unable to field a team so the first adult game on the new track will be the 1st XI, who are in action next weekend against Woodhall Spa in the East Lindsey League.

More than 70 fixtures are scheduled for Grimoldby’s adult and junior teams over the course of the season.

With all teams having relatively small squads, there should be plenty of opportunity for any newcomers to get a taste of village cricket.

l Any adults who would like to play should contact Martin Spooner on 01507 327500 and juniors interested in playing should contact Adie Sanders on 01507 327836.
