THE ANTICIPATION and waiting is almost over for local Olympian Hollie Arnold as she is now days away from competing in the Paralympics.
Hollie, 14, jetted off to Beijing on August 31 leaving her parents, Jill and Graham, behind in Holton le Clay.
And in five days time, she will compete against some of the world’s best disabled athletes in javelin throwing on September 8.
The inspirational athlete, who was born without her right hand and forearm, aims to break the world record of her category - a whopping 38m - after throwing a personal best of 32.25m in Holland and qualifying to represent Great Britain in the Olympic Bird’s Nest Stadium.
Her friends at Cordeaux School, Louth, and her family are all rooting for her and this week her parents will be joining her in the Chinese city to watch her compete.
Unavoidably £1,000s are spent realising Hollies’s dream of becoming champion javelin thrower and she desperately needs sponsorship. If you are interested in helping Hollie, contact Jill on 01472 591691.
