ATHLETES from the Louth area will meet Geoff Capes at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston this weekend.
The former World's Strongest Man contender will coach the first group of athletes to go through to the county's first ever throws academy.

Sportsmen and women of all ages who were selected from community taster events in Lincoln, Louth, Grantham, Sleaford, Mablethorpe, Boston and Spalding over the summer will be attending the academy on Sunday in the hope of becoming the county's next Olympic hopeful.

Geoff Capes will be heading up the Lincolnshire Throws Academy along with other international athletes including former Scottish shot putt champion and Dealer Principal at Crystal of Lincoln Nissan, Graeme Stark.

The Crystal Motor Group, which comprises Crystal Nissan in Lincoln and Grantham, Crystal Nissan and Renault in Boston and Astle BMW and Astle MINI in Grimsby and Scunthorpe, is also supporting the cause by donating £4,000 to the Lincolnshire Throws Academy.

Dave Carter from the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, which organised the Lincolnshire Throws Academy, said: "We initially launched the County Challenge in July to give people of all ages and abilities to have a go at discus, hammer, javelin and shot with overall aim being to find someone who can putt the shot 20m 12cm by the 2012 Olympics.

"The most promising athletes have now been invited to attend the first Lincolnshire Throws Academy."
