SATURDAY saw Louth's first X1 travel to play at Woodhall Spa.
Having lost the toss again they were asked to bat but on a much harder wicket than in previous weeks.
With a healthy run rate at all times a score well in excess of 200 would have been par but unfortunately only 172 was achieved being bowled out in the 41st over, Nuwan Shiroman, top scoring with 40.
Apart from an early wicket to Matthew Hamilton the Louth bowlers were unable to restrict the Woodhall batsmen who raced towards the below par score. Conrad Louth, hitting 100 not out with a four to secure victory.
With such a poor performance behind them bank holiday Monday saw a much changed side make the journey to Long Sutton for the County Cup.
On a wicket that looked like it could be difficult to set a score on Louth won the toss and chose to field. A decision that was easily justified when Louth's opening bowlers Matthew Hamilton and Jonathan Darke took 4 for 24 and 2 for 20 respectively.
With the home side reeling Louth bowled them out in just the 25th over for 96. Low scores are sometimes difficult to chase down but Shiroman hit a quick fire 30 all in boundaries to get Louth well on their way.
Jonathan Darke and Graeme Bell then put on a partnership of 42 (28 and 21 not out) to win the game in the 26th over.
Louth first X1 will be playing at Owmby in the nationwide run competition the Cockspur Cup on Sunday May 18.
This is the first year the club has entered a side in this tournament and have drawn crowd pleasers The West Indian Cavaliers from the Nottinghamshire Premier League.
