LOUTH Indoor Bowls Club will be closed during July and August whilst refurbishment work takes place.
It is intended the club will reopen on Monday September 7 one week before the start of the winter leagues season.
The main focus of the work will be on installing a new lower ceiling incorporating an energy efficient lighting system.
To compliment this a new climate control system will also be installed which will save on heating costs.
The internal walls are to be fitted with extra cladding, lined and painted. The playing carpet is to be turned and a new underlay will be laid.
The bar and refreshment areas are to be given a new look and the catering arrangments, previously run on a franchise agreement, will revert to the control of the club’s management committee.
This means the restaurant will once again be open at lunchtimes.
The club apologises to those summer bowlers who will be inconvenienced by the temporary closure but says members will benefit in the long run.
