CENTRAL Midlands Premier league leaders Louth Town were made to work hard for a seventh consecutive victory by a battling Parkhouse side but the Park Avenue men scored three second half goals without reply to earn a 3-0 victory.
Town went into the game with their confidence understandably sky high following their 100 per cent start to the season and created the first opening of the game when Mike Armstrong's shot was deflected wide.
However, far from having everything their own way the visitors almost went behind when Parkhouse created a clear opportunity but keeper Craig Wherry was up to the task, producing an instinctive save to deny Scott Butterworth.
The home defence worked hard to deny the Town attack any clear chances and in particular the prolific Paul Watts but the in form striker did manage to break free of his shackles to volley just over after a good chip from Mark Hallam on 25 minutes.
Craig Wherry then produced the save of the game to cling on to a Dave Chambers header before Paul Watts was again narrowly off target after great work by Sean Chamberlain.
There were half chances at both ends first for home full back Matt Shaw with Ben Davison then going close for Town but the first half ended in stalemate.
Manager Paul Walden called for greater effort and an upping of the tempo for the second period but when the deadlock was finally broken within five minutes of the restart, the goal owed a lot to good fortune.
A cross shot from Stuart Hutton looked to have been dealt with comfortably by the home keeper but somehow the ball squirmed away from his grasp into the path of the lurking Mike Armstrong who steered into the unguarded net.
At this point Paul Walden changed the shape of his side, moving to a 4-4-2 formation and straight away his side looked far more comfortable.
Sean Chamberlain, making his first start for Town fired a rasping drive just wide before Town doubled their lead on the hour mark.
A long throw from the left by Andy Appleby had caused chaos in the home area and when the ball was only partially cleared to Mike Armstrong on the right hand side of the area the striker curled an inch perfect cross for skipper, Jordon Walden who stretched at the far post to score his first goal in Town colours.
Town wrapped up the points a minute later when keeper Craig Wherry launched a towering free-kick from inside his own half which eluded everyone apart from Stuart Leafe who arrived at pace to guide the ball into the net from close range.
Parkhouse belatedly threw extra men forward in the closing stages but it was Town who should have extended their lead when Mike Armstrong sprung the home off-side trap only to lose control of the ball as he attempted to round the keeper.
At the final whistle Town collected another three points, making it 21 from their opening seven games but they were made to work extremely hard and were indebted to two outstanding first half saves from Craig Wherry which gave them the platform to go on and maintain their position at the top of the league.
Town's home fixture on Saturday has been changed and they now travel to Phoenix Sports in Rotherham, kick-off 3pm.
