MABLETHORPE and District Motor Club members Dave Patrick and Martin Blood in their Jaguar powered Opel Manta emerged victorious on the recent Harold Palin Stages rally held at Manby airfield.
Dave, from Friskney, who maintains the car himself and has been improving it all year, said: “It’s hardly sunk in yet, but this is my first ever rally win!
“The car was faultless all day and I must thank all those who have helped and supported me
to reach this result. It shows that clubmen can go rallying on a small budget and be competitive.”
Dave and Martin were not the only club members to do well on this event as Chris Cawthorne and Roger Laister brought home their Subaru Imprezza in second place and the club was represented in class positions as well.
A delighted Gerry Blythe, Mablethorpe and District Motor Club chairman, said: “What an excellent result for our competing members.
“For Dave to achieve first overall in a two wheel drive car against four wheel drive and massively better funded opposition shows skill and determination.
“This is what our club is here for - to support and enable our members get the most from Motorsport.
“The results of all our members are worthy of recognition and its great to see our club on top.”
