SUTTON cricket club gained four points in the opening game of the season on Sunday.
Sutton skipper Glen Hugill won the toss and choose to field on a very cold, wet and windy day at Sutton.

The opening pair put on 83 before Matt Hugill claimed his first wicket to break the partnership.

Skegness went on to a score of 153 before the next wicket fell with both Walker and Pashen both passing 50.

In the last 13 overs bowled by both Reece Brant and Glen Hugil only 45 runs were conceded. Reece Brant picked up best figures of 3 – 32.

Sutton’s innings started well with the loss of just one wicket for 59. The highest score cam from Steve Watts scoring a personal best of 44.

At 80 – 5 Sutton looked unlikely to gain any batting points but Greg Parrott and Barry Turner dug deep to secure Sutton’s first batting point of the season.

Overall a good start for Sutton who are looking to improve their performances last year, which saw them finish second bottom in the table.

Next Sunday the team travel to Grainthorpe where they will be looking to gain more points and move higher in the table.
