Mablethorpe runners finish well in North Lincolnshire Half Marathon
MABLETHORPE Running Club had three members taking part in the inaugural North Lincolnshire Half Marathon held in Scunthorpe and finishing inside the football stadium.
The course was generally flat and fast and the large field of 595 competitors had reasonable weather conditions with just a moderate wind and average temperatures.
The race was won in a fast time of one hour and 13 minutes by Gavin Felton of Barnsley AC.
First back for Mablethorpe in 49th place was James McNamee (vet 40) in a time of one hour 28 minutes and 45 seconds.
He was closely followed by his training partner, Mick Casey (vet 60) in 52nd position with 1.29.32, which won the first prize in his age group category.
Roger Blake (senior) reduced his personal best time by a minute when finishing 150th in 1.37.59.
The club meets at the Athletic club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and anyone, whatever their ability, is welcome to go along and run.
