HUTTOFT’s James Bark won both of Sunday’s Golf GTI Championship races on his home track at Cadwell Park.
The first race started at the same time as a sharp shower of rain, making for tricky conditions as all the competitors had dry setups. James dropped to 2nd place at the start, but regained the lead as conditions slowly improved.
The second race started in dry conditions, which allowed for some spectacular lap times from the front three cars in good (if windy) conditions. James won by 7.763 seconds, with a new lap record time of 1:46:181, beating the old lap record of 1:47:950. This increased his championship position with five wins and six pole positions out of six races.
The new lap record was achieved by Ian Hart of Huttoft Service Station (the Ross Brawn of the Golf GTI world) who constantly improved the setup of his car.
