A 139-40 defeat at Long Sutton resulted in the Louth Indoor Bowls Club Mixed ‘A’ team finishing bottom of division 2 and they will have to face the club’s ‘B’ team in county Mixed action next winter.
The Mixed ‘B’ team also ended their fixtures with a defeat, 101-79 at home against Grantham but they at least avoided bottom spot in division 3. In the county Men’s section Louth ‘A’ were condemned to last place due to Long Sutton’s home victory over Sleaford on Saurday. As with the Mixed teams the Men’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams will also face one another next season. It should make for some interesting matches!
The club knockout finals continued on Sunday with an excellent contest in the Men’s Over 60 Singles where Horace Cope eventually beat Harry Putland 21-18.
The Maiden Pairs brought a comfortable 22-13 win for Steve Moore and Pam Cowling over Michael Norton and Judi Jacklin.
The club’s AGM took place last Friday with a lower than expected turnout. David Wise has taken over as Club Chairman from George Willoughby who in turn has been appointed Club Captain.
It was announced that rink fees will be increased to £2.30 from the start of the next winter season. After much consideration the club have decided to continue with two evening sessions but this will be reveiwed again next winter.
