Lucky year nine pupils at Cordeaux School in Louth have received some top inspirational mentoring from Team GB and England women’s football captain Casey Stoney.

Sky Sports’ Living for Sports Project saw Casey Stoney visit the school last week as an athlete mentor, spending time with 32 pupils as part of the project.

Pupils will be working on the project for the full academic year learning how to coach and deliver sports to primary school pupils and organising a festival at the end of May.

Pupils will also be trying their hands at sitting volleyball and goal ball (blind football).

The pupils were selected by teachers and will be working on confidence building, team work, organisation, cooperation, communication and the six principals of sport as per the project, which can also be applied to life.

Sports co-ordinator at the school, Heather Howard is leading the project, and Casey Stoney kick started it with a session with the young leaders and then a motivational assembly for the lower school.
