Playing in their second football final in a week, the Year 10 Football Team from Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College were declared District Champions.

The team, comprising of players from both the Louth and Mablethorpe campuses displayed resilience and defiance after narrowly losing to Boston Grammar School last week in the County Cup final when the match was decided by a penalty shootout.

A week on, the team, with heads held high and full of determination, took on Skegness Grammar in the final of the District Football Tournament.

The whole team showed fortitude and skill and dominated the game throughout, not allowing the Skegness side much possession and with the same indomitable spirit, admirably defended their goal.

Three fantastic goals from James Larder, Riley Hall and Tyler Millward ensured the local side a well-deserved comfortable victory with the final score being 3-0 to MDTC.

The Man of the Match Accolade went to Alex Aldrich.

Mr S Wright, Head of PE, said: “I am really proud of the team as a whole, this victory was well-deserved.

“To be able to bounce back and win after losing in the County Cup on penalties shows the wealth of talent there is in this team. Their spirit is a real credit to them”.
