A new six-a-side community football league has been set up in Louth which held its opening matches at London Road Sports Pavilion last week.

This new Leisure League, owned by Lincolnshire-based Michael Clark, is professionally run and has official refs, team kits, interactive apps and websites for league tables and fixtures.

The opening night also saw an official visit from Lincoln City FC’s Hamza Bencherif, alongside football scout Matt Alexander (the son of the late Lincoln City manager Keith Alexander.

There are currently 13 teams in the league, but there are still more team places up for grabs for those who would still like the opportunity to join.

Teams that sign up will receive free entry and free kits worth £85 if they sign up before Saturday. April 18.

Michael said; “We are happy to cater for all abilities, whether you fancy yourself as the next Lionel Messi or simply want a laugh between work colleagues, we will accommodate you.”

Teams will be competing for a range of top prizes including custom made trophies and free entry to the National 6-a-side championships where they will get the chance to represent Louth and really hit the jackpot, as this year’s winners have received a package including a trip to the Algarve.

A fun, but competitive game with qualified refs is assured and in a unique move, profits from the league will be donated to charity, for which Leisure Leagues have been praised by, among others, David Cameron and Prince Charles.
