LOUTH Town’s 5-0 derby win over Grimsby Borough on Monday was marred by a horrific leg break to striker Jamie Rowbotham.
The 21-year-old went down under a heavy challenge after 75 minutes.
Rowbotham had only recently returned from a 15-month spell on the sidelines after a double leg break.
And Louth manager Paul Walden confirmed that Rowbotham has broken the same leg for a second time.
The striker was due to have an operation to pin and plate the leg on Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s a tough pill for everyone at the club to swallow,” said Paul. “He’s such a good lad and we’ve had so many messages of support from clubs and managers.
“He’s got age on his side and I’d like to think he’ll be back in the future, but football is the last thing on our minds right now.”
