LOUTH Town’s U13s side took the lead twice before being narrowly beaten 3-2 at Horncastle.
Town began well with Joe Wrisdale’s weaving run ended by a heavy challenge in the box, but Tom Williams’ resulting penalty was well saved by the home goalkeeper.
Both teams pushed forward but Louth took the lead when a diagonal ball from McGrath was met by Ryan Bingham who poked the ball past the onrushing ‘keeper.
After the break the hosts fought back and equalised when Bruntlett slotted past Louth goalkeeper Kirkham.
But Town responded immediately and took the lead once again when Bingham added his second and his 28th of the season.
Horncastle went close twice more before Bruntlett made it 2-2 with another fine finish and 3-2 shortly after.
Louth pushed on again and Williams, Bingham, McGrath and Wrisdale all saw good chances well saved by the home goalkeeper before the final whistle.
Credit went to the Horncastle goalkeeper who managed to frustrate the highest scorers in the league to earn a fine home win.
