Mablethorpe Athletic were finally united with their league champions trophy as the club held its annual awards night last week.

Lincolnshire FA representative Sid Cowley capped Athletic’s end-of-season celebrations by presenting captain Matthew Sirett with the East Lincs Combination Division Two trophy.

The trophy is normally handed over at the final match of the season, but the presentation ceremony was delayed when the Lincolnshire FA was asked to rule on a match which could have altered the outcome of the title race.

Mablethorpe were confirmed as league champions when the FA ruled there was no case to answer.

In the club’s annual awards, Adam Brownson picked up the Captain’s Player of the Season trophy from Sirett.

Brownson also collected the goal of the season award from manager Mick Stubbs for his 30-yard winner in the East Lincs Cup final against Alford Town.

Sirett won the manager’s Player of the Year award, while Andrew Wyer was voted Players’ Player of the Season by his team-mates.

The final honour went to Adam Cannon who received the top goalscorer award after finding the net 26 times last season.
