Monks Dyke Tennyson College’s year eight Louth team have scored their way into the final 32 of the English Schools Football Cup.
In total 731 schools nationally started off in the tournament and the fight for the cup title is going into its final stages.
The strong team from the school have worked hard to get this far and the school are very excited for their performance in the next round.
Steve Wright, Head of PE at the school said: “The school as a whole, as am I are so proud of how far the boys have come and we are really excited about playing in the next round.
“This is the first time I have had a team get this far in the competition, so their achievement as it stands is fantastic.
“Maybe one day we might see some of lads play professionally.”
As a double celebration for the school, District Councillor and Mayor of the town, Jill Makinson-Sanders and Coun George Horton presented the school with a £300 donation for a new football strip for the team.
The donation has come from the East Lindsey District Council Community Fund.
The team were due to play in the next round yesterday (Tuesday). For an update on how the team did, visit our website, www.louthleader.co.uk.
