Louth Town U13s 5-0 Saxilby U13s

LOUTH Town’s Under 13s went a point clear at the top of the table with just a game remaining after a convincing 5-0 home win over Saxilby on Sunday.

Town began well with Tom Williams forcing a good save early on before seconds later the same player slid in Joe Wrisdale to make it 1-0.

Louth kept up the pressure and Tom McGrath found a good cross across goal which fell to Jack Brumpton who netted his second of the season.

Minutes later it was 3-0 as the scoring continued, McGrath was again the provider as he slipped in Wrisdale who dribbled past the defence to net his second of the game.

The visitors did manage to test Skye Kirkham in the Town goal but the quick thinking goalkeeper cleared upfield for Wrisdale who broke through and netted his hat trick and 37th of the season.

And it was 5-0 before the break as McGrath got a deserved goal when his inswinging corner flew over the Saxilby goalkeeper.

After the break Town stroked the ball around well against the wind and kept Saxilby chasing.

The second half saw few chances for either side and Town were happy to see out the win and keep their fourth consecutive clean sheet.

Man of the match went to Sam Poppleton for his superb defending and tireless running in support.

Town now go above Navenby in the Midlands Under 13 C League with their final game at their title rivals, a point on April 22 will secure the championship.
