Christmas hamper competition at Sandilands Golf Club

On Saturday December 8 Sandilands Golf Club held its Christmas hamper competition with 23 pairs of gents playing in the main competition and four pairs of ladies playing in their own competition to a better ball format.

The weather was dry throughout with the usual chilly winds and the course was in excellent condition – a great compliment to the green keeping staff. Nearest the pin prizes were supplied by past captain Mick Neal and.

Winners with 44pts and by virtue of a better back nine score were Tony Attwood and Charlie Kemp. Father and son combination David and Jamie Hoare came second. Third place with 42pts went to brothers Paul and James Doughty.

Tony Seward and Jack Taylor came fourth with 40pts. Anthony Brass and Paul Weston came fifth with 39pts and the best back nine score of several other pairings who also carded 39pts.

In the ladies competition the winners were Gemma Leak and Allison Doughty. Kath James and Sylvia Robson came second and Freda Smith and Shirley Christian third. Kath Forknall and ladies captain Veronica Metcalfe were fourth.

Nearest the pin prizes went to Roy Clow, George Ward, Tony Attwood and Mick Neal.
