GRAINTHORPE Cricket Club travelled to Friskney for their first Cojos East Lindsey Cricket League game of the season.
With only 10 men Grainthorpe knew it would be tough against a Friskney side which is generally strong.
Grainthorpe batted first and opening batsman Dave Clark and Neil Pridgeon set about building a total, the pair had put on 102 for the first wicket when Clark was lbw for 67.
Captain Phil Burrell came to the crease and departed fourth ball for a duck, at 103 for two a batting collapse could have been on the cards, but Paul Chapman joined Pridgeon and the pair took the total to 180 when Pridgeon fell for a well made 77.
With only eight overs remaining of the Grainthorpe innings the run rate needed upping, gladly Ashley Marsh hit a rapid 24 and Chapman in partnership with Marsh and then Adrian Smart (six not out) added 100 runs in eight overs to allow Grainthorpe to post 280 for four off 40 overs, Chapman finishing top scorer with 91 not out.
Rav Bains (4-2-8-3) soon got a breakthrough thanks to a great catch from Mike Cooper, he also removed two more batsman
Veteran Adrian Smart (6.3-0-20-4) bowled a tight line and length at the other and backed up by Neil Pridgeon (3-0-17-2) and a run out Friskney collapsed to 77 all out to give Grainthorpe victory by 203 runs and 20 points. A great start to the season and a fantastic team atmosphere.
