Louth area athlete selected for U17 Great Britain Women’s Fencing team

Louth athlete Amber Moss has been selected for the U17 Great Britain Women’s Fencing team.

After two successful trips to Parish representing England and intensive competitions over the last three months, Amber finished the cadet season ranked fifth in the country and has been asked to represent Great Britain.

Amber, 15, said: “The summer has been intense with training for the Cadet season, and I have been traveling to Nottingham every week for coaching. I attend National Academy training sessions in Birmingham each month and I receive coaching every Wednesday in Louth.

“As well as all of this I’ve been swimming and going to the gym to build my core strength and stamina. It looks like it’s all paid off though as I’ve been selected to represent my country next year which is really exciting.”

Over the next three months Amber will compete in Germany, France and Poland as part of the squad, and will compete in two U20 competitions this month in Leeds and London.

Amber is a member of the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP) which supports and funds talented sportsmen and women across the county.

Rachel Belcher, LEAP Project Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “This is great news for Amber; it looks as though her hard work throughout year has paid off and we’re pleased that LEAP could support Amber on her journey. What a fantastic achievement to be representing your country at international level.”
