Months of dedicated training and dieting saw Louth bodybuilder Aaron McCallum proudly crowned as Mr Britain for 2012.
Aaron’s hard work culminated in the top award for class four in the recent National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association USN Novice Finals event in Birmingham, following on from his Mr Peterborough win in the summer.
And after months of dedicated training, all the work paid off as 26-year-old Aaron beat off his competitiors with ease in his height category, narrowly missing out on the overall Mr Britain title.
“The finals were actually the easiest day for me after all the hard training, I just had to tan up and eat rice cakes,” Aaron said.
“I had four months of intense dieting and training, and the last four weeks I could only eat protein.
“I made sure I took my time and got all my preparation right, but I was really shocked that I’d won!
“I felt I’d deserved it though as I really dieted hard, and I’d previously done the Central Britain finals and qualified in fourth.”
Aaron is now looking forward to a bit of well earned time off before he tackles the Mr Northampton contest in May 2013.
“That’s it for me until May now, I’ll be enjoying a bit of rest and Christmas pudding, but I’ll still be dieting and training hard,” he added.
Aaron spends many a session training hard at the Tranz-Form Gym on Louth’s Fairfield Industrial Estate.
The gym are also now Aaron’s proud sponsors for all his bodybuilding competitions.
“The gym have been fantastic for me, they’re a proper bodybuilding gym,” Aaron said.
