Louth Old Boys play Welton Juniors

Lincolnshire Co-op Mid Lincs youth League (Boys)

Welton Juniors 1 LOB’s 3

IN good conditions Old Boys played their second game of the weekend having beaten East Coast 7-2 on the Saturday at Burgh.

Welton started this game in a lively fashion and in the first ten minutes brought two great saves from Old Boys keeper Tom James.

Then it was the away team’s chance to attack and on their second attempt went ahead through Edward Birkett after a good unselfish pass by James Larder,

Both teams struggled for supremacy but old Boys went in at the break keeping their lead.

After the break Welton hit a purple patch but there was good work by Jack Foxon, Ben Damms, Bligh Wilkerson and Tyler Millward who tended to play that little bit too far forward but worked hard.

Robbie Sweatman had his best game as yet and has improved out of recognition from the start of the season,

Alden Midmer had his usual solid game and Joe and Sam were outstanding.

After being tended for an injury Jamie Riddell went on to score Louth’s second, and then Joseph white Scored from near the corner flag, the ball somehow curling in.

Welton deservedly pulled a goal back but it was too late in the game to save the day for them.

This was a good team effort by Old Boys. Edward had his best game of the season but in a very sporting game the result was well earned by a revitalized Old Boys band of real fighters.

They can look forward to their next game at Babworth next Sunday.
