Don Noble Bookmaker Louth Billiards & Snooker League

IT’S the perfect ten for the snooker league leaders J Melton Painters who in their tenth match of the season hit ten to go ten points clear at the top.

Sibjon Builders have been sliding down the ladder at a rapid pace and it was certainly backs to the wall as their visitors took the first four frames through Mark Bullivant and Alan Coppin.

There was no let up as Jack Westerby and Graham Evison took the last four to brush aside the hosts with an emphatic 10-2 victory as Steve Taylor rolled in a 33 break.

Castaline were also big winners as they thrashed Harness and Cooper Joiners 9-3 to climb up to third place.

The away side went into this clash on the back of their first win, but it all ended up like sawdust in this one as Sid Bett, Dan Blythe and Keith Sowter all took the bait as the hosts after a slow start to their season catch onto another impressive win.

NT Shaw Citroen remain in second after their battling 6-6 draw with Don Noble Bookmaker.

Brian Leese was quickly out of the stalls to get his side’s noses in front, but Gary Skipworth whipped in a 63 break to level the scores and from then on there was nothing to separate the two teams and the points were shared and Seymour and Castle are still well in touch of events at the top after they edged out Louth Travel Centre 7-5.

Steve Swallow and Sean Fieldsend (29) both won for the fourth placed hosts as Ian Winn replied for the visitors who had Scott Miller running in breaks of 51-49-48.

Kitchen Solutions have made a steady rise up the table and occupy fifth spot at the moment courtesy of their excellent 8-4 success at Louth Building Supplies.

Bob Strathern turned up the heat and the hosts had that sinking feeling when Steve Squires won both his frames as the visitors leapfrog their defeated opponents with this result.

Billiards League

ABC Riding Wear are the new leaders of the Billiards League after coming from behind to beat Tudor Driving School.

Harry Putland drove the away side into an early lead, but after that they took a back seat as Mike Rice levelled the scores leaving Dave Wilkinson the honour of putting the hosts on top with a fine 2-1 win while W A Jaines and Son are up to joint second after their 2-1 away victory over Naulls and Dales.

Sean Fiendsend and Pat O’Reilly put the visitors on the way to taking the lot, but a 60 break from Alf Crampin saved the day for the bottom placed hosts and Gary Skipworth turned in a very impressive performance playing for Howdales Cattery firing in breaks of 83-69-58-51-47-38-35-21-20 to give them the lead, but he was to end up on the losing side as M A Stephenson Autos hit back through Dave Bailey (33) and Hayden Gavey for a 2-1 win.
