Market Rasen Racecourse Emergency Services Day
Market Rasen Racecourse is to host its first ever Emergency Services Day on Sunday February 17, with every police officer, fire fighter and ambulance crew member being given free admission.
All that members of the emergency services have to do is produce their identification card at the entrance gate and they will receive a complimentary Tattersalls enclosure badge.
Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, whose work can be so vital to jump racing jockeys, will erect displays to show visitors to the racecourse the work they do in the community.
Other emergency services have also been invited to bring along information about their various roles.
There will be plenty to enjoy for all the family. The free entertainments include bouncy castles, face painters, temporary tattooing and balloon modelling.
Pip Kirkby, the racecourse’s general manager, said: “We want to show the Emergency Services our appreciation and admiration for the work that they carry out on behalf of all of us. In the sport of horse racing in particular, we know the valuable role they perform – after all, jockeys are the only people who are followed by an ambulance as they go about their work!”
There are seven races on February 17 – three steeplechases, three over hurdles and a flat race for jump racing horses. The first race is at 2pm, with the finale at 5pm.
Call 0844 5793009 to book general admission. More information is at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk.
